Last week, I bought my first ever netbook. It’s my second personal computer but the first one was given as a gift. This one, I bought with my blogging earnings for 2009. As suggested, I bought an ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Seashell.

It comes with a Windows 7 Starter operating system. It also has the following features:

  • 10.5 hours battery life
  • 250GB HDD and 500GB ASUS WebStorage
  • Built-in 802.11n and Bluetooth V2.1

And these are its specifications:

  • 10.1″ LED Backlight WSVGA Screen (1024×600)
  • Intel® Atom™ N280/ N270
  • 1GB DDR2 SO-DIMM ( MAX to 2GB RAM available)
  • Wireless Data Network WLAN 802.11b/g/n @2.4GHz
  • 1.3M Pixel / 0.3M Pixel Camera
  • Audio Hi-Definition Audio CODEC
  • Stereo speaker

It measures 262mm (W) x 178mm (D) x 25.9mm~ 36.5mm (H) and weighs 1.27 kg (with a 6-Cell Battery). I bought the black one coz the pink one was too gay for me and the blue wasn’t available. It also comes in white which is not an option for me.

So far, I have been doing well with it. I needed around 2 days before I was able to adjust to the keyboard size, shortcut and hot keys. The screen is just the right size, and it processes fast enough for my blogging and work tasks. It hasn’t hanged so far, which was my old laptop’s biggest problem. And I love the fact that I can work for hours even when there’s no electrical outlet nearby.

The three USB ports is a welcome feature, so is the multi-touch touchpad, although I haven’t really gotten used to it yet. The camera works well, so does the speakers but I haven’t tried the built-in microphone yet.

I have travelled with my Eee PC and it has fared well. I am loving it. I’m looking forward to accomplishing more work and having more fun with my netbook.

  1. wooot! ate ria congrats on ur Eee PC! I also haz one 😀 The battery life is so FTW. As for the multi touch mousepad I love using it for scrolling. When you have two fingers on it move it up and down and it will scroll the page. Tapping on a link with two fingers will open in a new tab. Tapping with two fingers on a tab will close it. I love the mousepad! 😀 enjoy your eee pc! Plenty na ta Eee users 😀

  2. Congrats on your new Netbook. Planning to get a netbook for my wife since she like to go online more than offline stuff like I usually do with my current Toshiba laptop

  3. Nice ah! But seriously, netbook? hmmm. feeling ko kasi sa netbook sayang ang pera, I mean I always hear people who got their netbooks para lang to be in, complain because the netbook is slow, blah blah blah… and then soon dispose na lang.

I think people should really check what they need the netbook for. Have you seen dell or HP netbooks? how are they compared to Acer?
